Description

Hunters are responsible for bringing their own personal gear, while the outfitter provides all camp and stock equipment. Essential items include a durable hunting backpack, quality optics such as 10x binoculars and a rangefinder (a spotting scope is optional), and a reliable rifle with ammunition or a bow if archery hunting. Footwear should include well-broken-in waterproof hiking boots and a pair of lightweight camp shoes. Layering is key, so hunters should pack base layers (merino or synthetic), an insulating jacket (down or synthetic), and a waterproof outer shell (jacket and pants). Comfortable and quiet hunting pants and shirts, along with gloves, a beanie, and a cap are also important. Other essentials include a headlamp with extra batteries, a water bottle or hydration bladder, trekking poles for steep terrain, and any needed personal items such as toiletries, medications, sunscreen, and lip balm. A warm sleeping bag rated for 0–20°F may be needed depending on the hunt and outfitter’s gear provisions.
